Father’s Day is right around the corner! If you have summer school or a few weeks left before you break for summer, it’s a perfect time to do a Father’s Day Craft with your students or your own children. These low-cost and low prep activities are fun. Plus, the dad in your life is sure to love it.
Create Fun Father’s Day Craft Cards
While you can always go to the store to buy a card, it is fun to have your students or your kids create a fun card just for Dad. The personal touch will always make more of an impact than anything you buy in the store. Here are some fun Father’s Day card ideas that are simple!
To the Moon!
Make a rocket ship card from your student to his/her dad and tell Dad you “Love Him to the Moon,” with a simple rocket ship template and simple materials. All you need is the free template, cardstock paper, scissors, glue, a hole punch, some yarn, and a black marker. With simple tracing and cutting, your students can work on their fine motor skills while making a fun Father’s Day craft
Put Your (Grill) Mark on It
One thing that almost all dads are good at is grilling! You can make a fun Handprint Grill Card for their Dad or Grandpa with this fun grill card. All you need is some cardstock or regular paper, scissors, glue, and a black marker. Trace your students’ or kids’ hands. Let them cut out their hand before you have them trace a circle and fold it in half. Finally, make some grill legs and add a spatula. On the inside of the grill card, have your students write a sweet message.
Create a Handy Tool Box Card
This interactive card is fun for students to make for their dads. All you need is some paper, scissors, glue, and a marker. To make this Fathers’ Day craft easier, you can have different tools already outlined for your students to cut out. If you want to make this card extra special, have your students write some of the cool things they love about their dad on each tool. This is sure to make dad smile!
Catch a Smile with this Father’s Day Card
Does the dad in your life love to fish? This adorable fishing vest that is entirely customizable is the perfect card for you! Using the vest temple, you can use paper, scissors, and glue to create a cute fishing vest. When Dad opens the vest up, he can see a cute message from his favorite fishing buddy. Add four pockets to the vest to add some extra character. In each pocket put a different fishing related item like a fish, a worm, a bobber, and maybe ever a fishing pole. Don’t forget to add a name tag! If you have some extra googly eyes laying around, you can use those for your worm and your fish.
Catch a Fish with this Father’s Day Card
One of my favorite pieces of art supplies I like to use is a cupcake liner! You can use a cupcake liner, a fishing popsicle stick, some clue, and string, to make a fun fishing card for Dad! All you need to do is get a regular piece of paper, add some “water” with some tissue paper or blue paper, and then add your cupcake liner fish. Then, wrap some string around the end of your popsicle stick and drop your line in the water. Add this to the card with a little worm on the hook. Finally, write a cute little note on this fun Father’s Day craft!
Cool Off with this Cute Father’s Day Craft Card
Sometimes you need something quick and simple. If you have really little kiddos, this is the perfect Father’s Day craft for you. All you need is a cardstock, a popsicle stick, some googly eyes and a marker. Then you can have your students help put all the pieces on the cardstock. Write a sweet saying about how cool your dad is. Then, you have a super sweet and super simple Father’s Day gift.
Learn with Dad
Another way to approach Father’s Day is with a fun book that you can read with your students. This is a great way to improve reading comprehension with your students and work on some STEM activities. With this May ELA bundle, you and your students can work on learning all while making Dad a great Father’s Day Gift.
Show Dad How Much He Rocks!
This Father’s Day craft is a little bit more work and can be a bit more expensive. However, you can get all of the pieces to this at the dollar store if you are making multiple gifts with students. For this craft, you’ll need pebbles, googly eyes, a hot glue gun, a frame, a black pen, and white cardstock. Put your white cardstock into the frame. Then add your pebbles to the paper. Finally add some googly eyes to the pebbles. Add the words “Dad, You Rock!” to the top and this punny gift will be a complete hit!
Show Your Love with this Father’s Day Craft
What do you love about your dad? Well, I am sure there are so many things! This is a great way for your students to practice writing while also making a Father’s Day gift. Using popsicle sticks your students can decorate, make a foldable list of the five things he/she loves about his/her dad. This is a fun and personalized gift that Dad is sure to love.
Create Daddy and Me Dolls!
Another fun craft you can have your students do for their dads is creating Daddy and Me paper dolls. Using this simple template and activity, you can make a memorable character with your students. This is for primary or elementary grades, but you can use it for older students as well. If you use it for older students, you can add some writing along with it!
What is Your Dad?
Dads are usually a lot of different things. Many of them are funny, strong, helpful, and loving. What is your dad? Make a little french fry holder out of this french fry template. Then, make strips from yellow paper as your french fries and write down all of his best qualities! Your dad will have so much fun pulling out the things you love about him!
Coast Into Dad’s Heart with this Father’s Day Craft
While paper gifts are always sweet, sometimes they aren’t as easy to keep. You can make a fun coaster using several different techniques. An interactive coaster is a fun chalk coaster. All you need to do is take a ceramic square coaster that you find on Amazon and paint it with chalk paint. While black works best, there are several different chalk colors to choose from. Add a piece of chalk with the gift and the card you have an interactive coaster.
If chalk isn’t something you want to deal with in your house, you can use sharpies to dye the coasters. You can make a beautiful rainbow or a solid color. The creativity is absolutely endless with this fun craft!
Father’s Day Memory Book
If you’re still in school, you can do a Father’s Day craft in class by making a class book. This activity had differentiated levels for all grade levels. With several pages to choose from, your students can tell their dads how much he means to them! Plus, your students will have fun decorating this fun book. You can laminate the cover or add a protective sheet to make this book last forever.
