Fall Tree Silhouettes
Wow - I can't believe that September is almost over. It's been one of the craziest September's ever. With my youngest starting Kindergarten, and one of the most challenging classes I've taught in 20 years, I'm constantly exhausted, and ready for a nap. But this week I felt like there might be light at the end of the tunnel. So imagine, if you will, a typical grade 2 classroom. The walls are nicely decorated with posters and artwork, the room is bright, with lots of toys, and learning tools to be had. Each desk is ... Read More about Fall Tree Silhouettes

But, I cannot be unprofessional about it. Let's just say, that I have a very difficult class and it's mostly the boys, and it's mostly behaviour. Today was the final straw in a ... Easter Baskets
I made these cute Easter Baskets with my class last week. They were absolutely easy to make. Of course the kiddos needed a bit of help, especially with the stapler. But overall, the activity was unexpectedly simple. This is the template I used to create the baskets. The only difference is that I did not cut away the triangle shapes. Click here for a link to a fabulous tutorial by Renee Van Stralen. To modify it for my Grade 2 students I cut the paper to a 9x9 inch square. Then I scored them into 9 ... Matryoshka Doll Art Lesson
Aren't these dolls adorable??? I found the instructions for this cute little art activity over at Deep Space Sparkle. Click Here to go over and check them out. It's a great lesson for teaching line and pattern in art. I admit that it took almost a week of lessons for us to complete these. And I really wanted to emphasize bold and bright colours so when I found some neon paint in the back of my art cupboard the kids were overjoyed. ... Read More about Matryoshka Doll Art Lesson
